David J Candelaria Graduated from the California Institute of the Arts with a degree in stop-motion animation. Over the years he has worked as a stop-motion animator and puppet fabricator. One of the first stop-motion shorts was short film called MORE, which was nominated for an Academy Award. His first few years out of college he worked as a stop motion-animation teacher. Creating stop motion curriculum for after school art programs. During this time he was also able to work for such companies as Walt Disney animation studios, doing stop motion animation for playhouse Disney. He moved into the world of live action at Nickelodeon, where he designed and built costumes, props and monsters, for a live action/animation series Sponge bob Square pants. At DreamWorks he made costumes and props for some of the independent projects that were being created at the time. He finally settled down working for a company Xow! Developing stop-motion software, large scale puppets and Creating His own intellectual properties. He was also able to work freelance developing new stop-motion techniques, and designing puppets of all scales. He recently finished working on Coraline as one of the lead armaturist, and designer of head mechanics. Coraline is the first 3-d stop motion film that was released in February of this year. He is also the lead puppet fabricator for Buddysystem studios. Currently David is Attending the School of The Art Institute of Chicago, pursuing his Masters in fine arts.
